GURPS Prime Directive
Timeline (Y153 - Y167)
This is an expansion of the timeline given in Prime Directive and includes most of the historical scenarios
as well as the major events from the original
Star Trek series.

There have been many attempts by different people to rationalize the
Star Trek timeline not only with its
own inconsistencies, but with that of
SFB. The version I present here is the one that I think fits best and the
way that I'm going to handle the problem.

Among the events listed are
Star Trek episodes (marked by the designation ST and followed by the
episode number) and
SFB scenarios (marked by SH and followed by the scenario number).

Y153 (2263)
  • James Kirk is promoted to Captain and assigned to command the Enterprise.
  • The Battle of Vandha (SH123): Lyrans face off against the rebellious Dark Star County.

Y154 (2264)
  • The Enterprise is assigned a five year mission of exploration.
  • Where No Man Has Gone Before (ST2): The Enterprise penetrates the barrier at the edge of the
    galaxy.
  • The Second Federation-Romulan War begins.
  • Balance of Terror (ST9): The Enterprise destroys a Romulan Warbird that has attacked several
    Federation outposts.
  • Lyran Dark Star County declares independence and becomes the Lyran Democratic Republic.

Y155 (2265)
  • The Treaty of Peilone re-establishes the Neutral Zone and ends the Second Federation-Romulan
    War.
  • The Fourth Lyran-Kzinti War ends.
  • The Cassini Incident (SH48): The Klingons attack and destroy the Federation tug Cassini.
  • Wolf In Sheep's Clothing (SH49): Orions destroy Federation border station K4.
  • Landing Party (SH50): Federation and Klingon ships clash in the Neutral Zone.

Y156 (2266)
  • The Second Federation-Klingon War begins. The war ends the same year with the Organian Treaty.
  • Errand of Mercy (ST28): The Enterprise is assigned to secure to cooperation of the planet Organia
to support the war against the Klingons. However, the Organians are revealed to be enormously
powerful non-corporeal entities who stop the war and force an uneasy treaty between the Federation
    and Klingons.
  • Lyran Civil War; one of many, few details known.
  • Kzinti-Hydran Treaty signed. Each pledges to attack the Klingons and/or Lyans if the other is
attacked by them. The Klingons and Lyrans sign a joint defense treaty six weeks later. Many Lyran
nobles oppose this treaty, resulting in a sporadic civil war.
  • The Trojan Shuttle (SH8): Orions destroy a Kzinti border station.
  • The Federation Exchange (SH51): The Federation capture an Orion freighter scheduled to
rendezvous with a Klingon vessel and substitute a Q-ship.

Y157 (2267)
  • The Gorn-Federation "war" starts as the result of a small incident where two brash, young captains
shoot first and face embarrassing questions later. Both fleets mobilize, but no space combat takes
place. The Romulans attempt to disrupt treaty negotiations, but the war ends six weeks later with the
Treaty of Algoran. The Federation apologizes for entering the territory of the previously-unknown
Gorns, while the Gorns pay reparations for the colony destroyed in a ground raid and imprison an
    officer who used excessive force.
  • Arena (ST20): First contact between the Federation and the Gorns.
  • Fifth Lyran-Hydran War begins.
  • Lyran Civil War ends abruptly.
  • Who Invited The Romulans? (SH52): The Romulans attempt to disrupt negotiations between the
    Federation and the Gorns.
  • Klingons launch abortive attack on the LDR - Kroal's Illegitimate War (SH124), Pressing The
    Advantage (SH125), The Sally (SH126).
  • The Fourth Klingon-Kzinti War begins. Citing their treaty, the Hydrans almost immediately launch an
attack against the Klingon border squadrons. The Lyrans join the Klingons in fighting the Hydrans
and Kzintis. The conflict is now known as the Four Powers War. All previous wars had been small
(mostly consisting of border raids), but new logistical systems developed in this war (notably the semi-
portable "Mobile Base") will make actual invasions of enemy territory possible.
  • The Federation, anxious to reduce the threat posed by the Klingons, shifts fleet units to the Klingon
border and discusses a limited action with the Organians to restore the balance of power. This,
however, a "hoax" intended to influence the Klingons to negotiate an immediate settlement to end the
war, as the Federation would never consider military power as a solution to the problem. The plan
    backfires.
  • Cruise Drones (SH4): A Klingon supply convoy is attacked by a wave of drones.

Y159 (2269)
  • The Klingon-Romulan Treaty of Smarba is signed. Klingons begin supplying advanced technology to
the Romulans, allowing the conversion of old Warbirds into War Eagles. These increase pressure on
the Federation border. The Federation transfers ships back from the Klingon border to the Romulan
border. This allows the Klingons to transfer ships to fight the Kzintis. The Federation's attempt to use
the "threat of force" as a substitute for simple force has failed.
  • The Enterprise Incident (ST60): The Enterprise crosses into Romulan space on a mission to
    capture a cloaking device.
  • The Enterprise completes its five-year mission and begins a major refit (both rear-phaser and plus
refits). Captain Kirk is promoted to Admiral and assigned as Chief of Starfleet Operations.

Y160 (2270)
  • Captain Philip Kosnett becomes commander of the heavy cruiser Kongo.

colony world, but finds that a Klingon vessel is escorting the asteroid.
  • Border Incident (SH53): Federation and Gorn cruisers are ambushed by the Romulans.
  • Kobol's Rock (SH176): Klingon and Kzinti ground forces battle it out on a desolate planet near the
    Kzinti border.

Y161 (2271)
  • ... And Settle Their Hash (SH54): Klingon vessels strike at a Kzinti drone bombardment squadron
that has been supporting Kzinti units in battle.
  • Sabotage (SH1): The Federation cruiser Kongo's warp engines are disabled and it is ambushed by
    a Klingon cruiser.

being held hostage on a Klingon base.

while under attack by Romulan vessels.

send ships to aid the tug, but the Klingons decide to send a force to protect the tug from the Kzinti
    "pirates" and "rescue" the vessel.

Y165 (2275)
  • Surprise Package (SH56): The Federation DDL Kublai (recently converted at a Gorn starbase)
surprises a Klingon D6 in the Neutral Zone.
